p1040888Over 100 representatives of cities and municipalities from all over Poland who are interested in the issue of climate protection and sustainable energy development participated in the  seminar “Polish and European context of sustainable energy management and climate protection on the local level” organized by Polish Network “Energie Cités” (PNEC) in Warsaw on 6-7 December 2011 under patronage of the Marshall of Mazowieckie Voivodeship Adam Struzik.

The programme focused on the presentation of the Covenant of Mayors initiative in the European context of the sustainable development as well as good practices of its signatories and municipal quality and energy management. The aim of the seminar was to encourage Polish cities to join and actively engage in climate protection activities to improve living conditions of their citizens.

The seminar was accompanied by two poster exhibitions. IMAGINE “Beacon regions, cities, neighbourhoods…” presents exemplary and innovative territorial European practices, and Good energy presenting the most interesting activities of 9 Polish (Bielawa, Bielsko-Biala, Dzierżoniów, Ełk, Łubianka, Niepołomice, Raciechowice, Stare Juchy, Warszawa) and 11 Ukrainian signatories of the Covenant. The “Good energy” exhibition was prepared by PNEC in 2010 and soon will be expanded by adding next 16 banners illustrating achievements of new Polish CoM signatories.

This travelling exhibition is widely displayed in different Polish and Ukrainian cities and everywhere meets with great interest.

The seminarium was organised in the framework  of  „Appetite for climate – ecological menu of Polish municipalities” project supported by National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and IEE.
