About us

The Association of Municipalities Polish Network „Energie Cités” (PNEC), non-government and non-profit organization, since 1994 has been cooperating with local governments for shaping the local low-carbon economy, efficient energy and renewable energy use as well as environmental education and climate protection. 

Our network gathers numerous municipalities and cities all over Poland, being leaders in sustainable development, and also supporting members – branch companies.  The Association is a collective member of the European Network „Energy Cities” with its main office in Besançon, France.

In 2009 PNEC as a first organization in Poland became an official  Supporter of the Covenant of Mayors by active promotion this European initiative and helping polish signatories with implementation its goals and obligations.

25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!

Our activity areas

• raising funds for partnership projects and activities on energy efficiency, RES, climate protection and low-carbon economy;
• conducting exchange of experiences promoting innovative technologies and the best solutions;
• co-operating with over 100 partners from 25 countries, PNEC participated in over 90 national and international projects;
• over 400 seminars, trainings, study visits and conferences organized in the framework of projects, co-financed by national and international programmes;
• approx. 7 000 representatives of local governments, NGO, scientific and financial institutions and consulting companies trained;
• preparation, publication and dissemination of free publications on the innovations in energy economics, ecology and education, included among others:
  • guidebooks and thematic publications,
  • CDs with educational materials, methodologies, sample lessons and several hundred best practices of energy management, efficient energy use and RES in UE countries,
  • films and posters promoting activities our member municipalities.

• develop and implement  Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP) and Low-carbon Economy Plans;
• have audits and Energy Performance Certificates for municipal buildings;
• have implemented energy investments;
• have reduced the costs of energy consumption in schools and other municipal buildings;
• receive information about the available sources of financing of climate actions;
• motivate and mobilize the local community, e.g. by organizing Energy Days;
• gain knowledge on energy management and climate protection with comprehensive substantive support;
• take part in lobbying initiatives and facilitate partnership-building process
• establish cooperation with partners from all over Europe;
• are promoted on the national and international forum.
