cities greenThe aim of the project is to develop energy management systems in cities by developing, testing, and disseminating tools supported by information and communication technologies (ICT). The project will analyse the possibilities for more effective energy monitoring and management and then improve the energy data collection system in the City of Bydgoszcz. Building a knowledge base and testing the best solutions will enable direct support for other cities, with particular emphasis on the Bydgoszcz functional area, in creating their own management systems, thanks to the exchange of experience and dissemination of tools between local government units and experts.

 

PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

  • analysis of the current energy management practices,
  • identifying the potential of development and building up the capacities of municipality staff by professional trainings,
  • knowledge exchange between Bydgoszcz and chosen German cities to ensure inspiration for development of advanced ICT-supported energy management systems,
  • improving the tools and energy management system used in the city of Bydgoszcz,
  • updating SECAP with implemented actions and integrating it with other local strategic documents,
  • preparation of guidelines for the development of energy management systems in 5 cities from the Bydgoszcz functional area (FUA),
  • trainings for the municipalities interested in upgrading their energy databases and management processes will be developed and local fora for stakeholders increasing their energy awareness and involving them in local energy management processes.

 

EXPECTED PROJECT RESULTS:

  • Improvement and expansion of the existing energy management system, energy data bases and energy management tools to ensure the right direction of future development of local energy policy.
  • Improvement of energy management in cities by providing, testing and disseminating new tools and capacities in the field.
  • Dissemination of knowledge on building the potential of cities through the creation and expansion of energy management systems.
  • Creating a space for cooperation between cities through dedicated training and local forums and giving them tools and capacities to better understand and manage the energy
  • Development of energy management processes and supporting the energy transformation.
