Poland: Learning and having fun – final EURONET 50/50 MAX event in Częstochowa
More than 150 students and almost 20 teachers from 12 schools participated in the EURONET 50/50 MAX final event, organised in Częstochowa on the 15th of April 2016. It took place in the Primary School no 21 and started with 40 min-shows of chemical and physical experiments, where students could learn how to write secret messages by using invisible ink, inflate the balloon without using mouth or prepare home-made coca-cola. The most exciting part of the show was the boomfire in the middle of the sports hall!
Efficient energy management in Polish and German municipalities
From 7 – 8 June 2016 the City of Częstochowa welcomed representatives from Polish and German municipalities to the second consultation meeting held within the “Polish-German cooperation on low emission economy in cities”. The meeting addressed the questions related to the efficient use of energy in the city, in particular how to control and monitor energy use in public facilities, how to engage the local community, and what financing options are available to deliver energy savings.
Local governments are aware of the energy savings potential in public buildings and have experience with diverse approaches to energy management, as those showcased at the workshop: using information and communication technologies (ICT) to monitor energy consumption in Czestochowa and implementing LED street lighting and increasing the use of renewable energy in Rosbach v.d. Höhe.
Invitation to the EURONET 50/50 MAX final conference in Brussels
All institutions interested in the topic of encouraging energy savings in schools and other public buildings are invited to take part in the final conference of the EURONET 50/50 MAX project, which will take place in Brussels (Belgium) on the 16th of March 2016. Our project has come to an end and we have many interesting things to share with those who would like to implement the 50/50 energy-saving concept in their own buildings or help us promote this innovative methodology among local authorities all over Europe.
The EURONET 50/50 MAX project aims at mobilizing energy savings in public buildings through the implementation of the 50/50 methodology in 500 schools and nearly 50 other public buildings from 13 EU countries. The 9-step methodology increases energy awareness of the building users and actively involves them in energy–saving actions. Achieved financial savings are shared equally between the building users and the local authority which covers the energy bills.
