This year our Association celebrates its 15th anniversary. That is why we asked the most active members of our network to present their achievements and history of their cooperation with PNEC during the conference „COVENANT OF MAYORS - European Initiative for Climate Protection” which took place in the building of Cracow City Council on 28th and 29th of May 2009.

Achievements and experiences of following municipalities were presented: Cieszyn (speaker: Andrzej Wucki), Dzierzoniow (Zygmunt Kuc), Janow (Adam Markowski, the mayor), Nowa Deba (Wiesław Ordon, the mayor), Ogrodzieniec (Piotr Mikulski) and Raciechowice (Marek Gabzdyl, the mayor).

Maria Stankiewicz, Executive Director of Association summed up 15 years of its activity - participation in 46 national and international projects on renewable energy  use (6), energy efficiency  (18) and sustainable development (22), organization of over 80 seminars, trainings, study tours and conferences in the framework of the projects financed by EU programmes, USAID and national sources and also training of over 3 500 representatives of local authorities (from Poland, Ukraine, Croatia, Moldova, Kyrgyz Republic and Armenia).

Working for regional development and strengthening local management Association gives its members the opportunity to exchange experience on implemented projects and creating replicable solutions which can be used in their municipalities.

Co-operation with partners from different countries (e.g. Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Kirgizstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine and United Kingdom) helps in developing interregional and international co-operation, also due to the collaboration with European city network „Energie Cités”.

15 years of Association’s activity have resulted in many RES investment in Polish municipalities which are involved in different energy and environmental project co-financed from European and other sources.

Moreover PNEC have prepared different publications which have been disseminated free of charge: 38 000 CDs with over 300 descriptions of the best practices of renewable energy use, energy efficiency and sustainable development in EU member states, 1500 copies of handbooks on energy management in school buildings and RES use, colourful posters, maps, leaflets.

During the General Assembly in the first day of the conference all the representatives of municipalities - members of the Association were handed special diplomas on the occasion of 15th anniversary of Association of Municipalities Polish Network „Energie Cités”.
