ELENAThe second Ready4NetZero webinar, part of a capacity building series, organized on 21nd of November 2023, hosted over 46 participants: city officials and municipal staff from Croatia, Hungary, Poland and Romania. The event had a highlight on the city of Zagreb and its financial strategy, in the light of their climate transition process. Another important topic on the agenda was the City of Zagreb's Energy Information Centre, a valuable resource for citizens seeking information on renewable energy sources.

EL-Practice project at VIII Adult Education Forum

Źródło: FRSEOn 14-15 November in Warsaw, the eighth Adult Education Forum organised by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System and the EPALE National Office  took place. The event brings together experts, practitioners and all those involved in adult education. The Forum aims to analyse best practices and reflect together on how adult education can be more accessible and effective, regardless of age, skills and individual predispositions, abilities or needs of the audience.

Study visit in Hamburg in the framework of DUET project

Schools for climate neutrality - vision workshop in Zamość

Vision workshop at Primary School 8 in ZamoscThe Orląt Lwowskich Primary School No. 8 and Primary School No. 10 with Integrated Branches in Zamość involved students, teachers and guests - including parents and representatives of local institutions - to jointly develop on 15 and 16 of November a roadmap to achieve the goal of climate neutrality in schools in 2045. The event was attended by over 60 people, who had the opportunity to learn more about climate neutrality through interactive methods and exercises and to gather new ideas for climate-neutral actions in the school community by working together in small groups.

The start of the workshop was preceded by a sensory walk of SP no. 10 students, and within SP no. 8 the development of a mock-up model of the school of the future and a short performance reflecting on people's attitude towards nature. After exercises and tasks activating participants with the use of creative methods,  the time had come for the introduction to the topic of climate change consequences, presentation of the biggest sources of greenhouse gas emissions and a framework of feasible actions that, if implemented, would reduce each school's carbon footprint analysed earlier.

Training on energy communities for local autorities and administration

 More than 30 representatives of towns and municipalities attended a workshop organised on 24 and 26 October by the Association of Municipalities Polish Network “Energie Cités” in collaboration with the Frank Bold Foundation. The meeting was devoted to energy communities and the opportunities of their functioning in cities and municipalities in the perspective of recently updated Polish legislation. The event consisted of two parts: an online lecture introducing participants to the topic of energy communities (24.10.2023) and a stationary workshop in Cracow (26.10.2023).

Support DHC project kicked-off in Munich

1On 19 and 20 October, the first meeting of the starting new project SUPPORT DHC: Supporting a fast implementation of low-grade renewable energy and waste heat for district heating and cooling took place in Munich. The project coordinator hosting all partners in Munich is WIP - Renewable Energies.

Over the next three decades, the transformation of the DHC sector to achieve the goal of a carbon neutral Europe by 2050 will be a particular challenge for DHC owners and operators and all related stakeholders, such as public authorities, involved in this process. The main objective of the SUPPORT DHC project is to support them in these activities by developing transformation plans in particular concrete investment plans for the fast implementation of renewable energy and waste heat in the DHC sector in six European countries.

El-Practice short-term adult training in Zagreb

11 October 2023

From 2-6 October, an international training course was held in Zagreb (Croatia) organised by the EL-Practice project. Representatives from each of the partner organisations attended, as well as young adults from Austria, Croatia, Greece, Poland and Slovenia.

The training provided an excellent opportunity to collaborate and exchange experiences on energy and sustainable development initiatives. The main objective was to transfer new knowledge and strengthen the competences of the representatives of the project's target group in the field of energy literacy, through a presentation of the results so far and a presentation of the interactive e-course which is under development and which is a key result of the project. E-course will consist of four topics:

  • Introduction to energy literacy
  • Energy use and green deal objectives
  • Energy-related investments, incentives and subventions
  • Positive energy-related behaviours and habits

German experience an inspiration for Polish schools - study visit in Berlin

Participants of the study visit in BerlinOn September 25-29 this year, representatives of schools (SP8 and SP10 from Zamość and SP1 and SP5 from Mińsk Mazowiecki) and of the Association of Municipalities Polish Network "Energie Cités", participated in a study visit to Berlin organized as a part of the project Visions2045: Schools as drivers to Climate Neutraty in Cities. The visit was aimed at preparing teachers to plan pro-climate activities and inspiring them with German experiences in this area.
