MULTIPLY at the World Urban Forum

Multiply on WUFPNEC representatives took part in the World Urban Forum (WUF11), which was organised in Katowice from 26 till 30 of June 2022. The event was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the needs and challenges of cities, especially taking into consideration the main objectives of our organization, which are aspects related to climate change and the need to protect the environment. Active participation in the European Track, dedicated to the a just transformation of cities in the context of global challenges,  made it possible to present the results of the work and good practices gained during the implementation of the three-year MULTIPLY project. It perfectly matched to the objectives of WUF11. The developed and proven solutions, ready for implementation in other cities, thus reached a wider community. The event helped solidify the importance of integrated planning, taking into account aspects of energy, transportation and friendly public space. Also, participation in other numerous panel discussions, lectures, or valuable workshops, including those organized in cooperation with the Danish Embassy, provided the opportunity to expand knowledge and gain new perspectives for further action.

Seminar "Integrated local actions for energy and climate" and study visit - meeting in Mińsk Mazowiecki

fot. PNECIntegrated local action for energy and climate was the topic of the meeting that took place on June 23-24 in Mińsk Mazowiecki. The participants had the opportunity to share their experiences as well as listen to experts’ presentations. A study visit, during which interesting from the perspective of energy and climate management facilities in Mińsk Mazowiecki were visited, was also a part of the event.

GREEN&DIGITAL city prototyping workshop

We invite representatives of local governments, architects, urban activists and developers to a Danish-Polish training session in the innovative #SprintDesign format during the World Urban Forum in Katowice.

The aim of the session is to create prototype solutions for cities: GREEN & DIGITAL - in line with the UN Sustainable Development Agenda.

The workshop will take place on 28 June from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the International Congress Centre in Katowice in the Multi-functional Room, Room 16.

Study visit in Krakow within S3UNICA project

S3unica - Center of Energy AGH On June 9, 2022 the representatives of the Bielsko-Biała universities and schools operating in the Local Advisory Group took part in the study visit in Krakow within the S3UNICA project - Intelligent solutions on university campuses. The purpose of the event was to inspire the implementation of new solutions on campuses in Bielsko-Biała by presenting energy efficiency investments implemented at Kraków's universities.

Exchange of experienceThe partners of the S3UNICA project: Intelligent energy-saving solutions on university campuses met on June 8, 2022 in the online formula to participate in the exchange of experience and learn how the educational community in Bielsko-Biała supports the achievement of local climate and energy goals. First, during the project partners' meeting, they discussed the most important issues related to the current activities of the project.

Launch of CDP 2022 reporting platform

Climate actions of cities and municipalities and their progress require reporting. In order for it to run efficiently and to put the least possible burden on local governments, they need an appropriate tool. With the CDP platform, you only need to submit 1 report for all your obligations! By completing the CDP cities questionnaire, you can simultaneously report to the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, C40 Cities, Under2 Coalition, Cities Race to Zero and Cities Race to Resilience, as well as various ICLEI initiatives and many more.

The 2022 reporting cycle has already started - on the CDP-ICLEI Track platform you will find cities questionnaire, which has been simplified this year and contains less than 40% of the questions compared to last year.

Inclusive energy transformation - seminar in Jadwisin 2022

Przywitanie uczestników i otwarcie seminarium, Artur BORKOWSKI, burmistrz Miasta i Gminy Serock, Leszek DROGOSZ, prezes Zarządu Stowarzyszenia Gmin Polska Sieć „Energie Cités”, dyrektor Biura Infrastruktury, Urząd m.st. Warszawy, Anna JASKUŁA, dyrektor biura Stowarzyszenia Gmin Polska Sieć „Energie Cités” Over 60 representatives of cities and communes met on May 19 and 20 this year in Jadwisin during the seminar "Inclusive energy transformation and climate protection in cities and municipalities", organized by the Association of Municipalities Polish Network "Energie Cités". Participants had the opportunity to listen to experts, incl. from the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, and a debate on planning the further development of cities and communes in the context of new energy, geopolitical and social challenges, as well as take part in good practice sessions, conducted in small groups.

During the opening both Artur Borkowski – the Mayer of Serock and Leszek Drogosz - Head of the Board of the Association of Municipalities Polish Network „Energie Cités” (PNEC) and Head of Infrastructure Office, Capital City of Warsaw, emphasized the importance of climate actions, despite new difficulties emerging. Anna Jaskuła - Executive Director of PNEC, started the first part of the seminar, which concerned sustainable city management in the context of new energy and social challenges.

Spotkanie Lokalnego Zespołu Doradczego S3UNICA, Bielsko-Biała, 28.04.2022The second meeting of the Local Advisory Team was held on April 28, 2022 at the City Hall in Bielsko-Biala. It was opened by President Jarosław Klimaszewski. The event was an excellent opportunity to summarise the previous activities and results of the S3UNICA project, which promote and implement intelligent energy-saving solutions on university campuses. University representatives had the opportunity to learn about European good practices and current funding opportunities in the field of energy efficiency and environmental education in secondary and higher education.
