EURONET 50/50 MAX celebration in Dąbrowa Górnicza
More than 200 students and almost 30 teachers participated in EURONET 50/50 MAX celebration in Dąbrowa Górnicza on 29th of May 2015. The event took place in the city park and was joint with Days of Dąbrowa Górnicza City.
The event was officially opened by Deputy Mayor Henryk Zaguła and Marek Mrówka from Municipality of Dąbrowa Górnicza who emphasized the role of energy teams from 28 schools from Dąbrowa Górnicza which have saved almost 500 000 PLN.
50000&1 SEAPs - meeting with municipalities, Serock 22.05.2015
Representatives of 5 Polish municipalities (Słupsk, Sztum, Pilzno, Grybów, Żyraków) met together to discuss about project 50000&1 SEAPs future implementation. The meeting allowed to present project’s expectations especially in terms of sustainable energy action plans integrated with energy management system (according to ISO 50001). Rules, timeframes, expected results and communication aspects were presented by organizers (PNEC). It was also a possibility to have some guidance from Dzierżoniów - the first municipality in Poland which is implementing SEAP and ISO 50001.
2nd EU roundtable discussions
Following the very successful 1st European Roundtable on energy data sharing, organized under the framework of the MESHARTILITY project in May 2013, the 2nd European Roundtable took place on the 10th of March 2015 at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels. 21 participants: technical experts from energy utilities, associations of municipalities and Supporting Structures from 12 European countries engaged in the project, as well as representatives of such EC institutions as DG ENER, JRC and the Covenant of Mayors Office concluded the discussion on the possible ways of improving cooperation between LAs and energy utilities.
Green roofs and walls in Low-Emission Economy Programmes
Over 300 people participated in the seminars entitled “Installation of green roofs and living walls as an innovative action that can be included in local Low-Emission Economy Programmes”, which were organized by our Association this February in four Polish municipalities - Białystok, Częstochowa, Lublin and Słupsk.
The seminars concerned environmental, technical and practical aspects of the establishment and development of gardens on roofs and walls of the buildings in Poland, as well as the possibility of including such investments in the local energy planning process. The speakers also discussed in details main elements of the Low-Emission Economy Programmes (LEEP) developed by local authorities – sectors and areas of intervention that should be included in the plan (e.g. municipal buildings & facilities, public transport, PV installations, trainings & education) and the process of the development of the Baseline Emission Inventory (BEI), which is a starting point for the LEEP.
RENERGY Project Hosts Final Conference in Brussels
After almost three years of working together in developing more efficient energy policies and strategies at the local and regional level, the RENERGY project partners assembled, along with politicians and key local players, for the Final Conference in Brussels on 15th October 2014.
The overall aim of RENERGY is to improve the effectiveness of the strategies for the sustainable development of local communities, demonstrating the importance of an integrated bottom-up approach to take local community needs, demands, cultural and infrastructural characteristics into account, empowering local authorities and providing them advanced decision support tools for the implementation of sustainable development policies.

Seminar on citizen-owned renewable energy projects for Poland and the Carpathian area
On the 18th of October in Cracow Seminar on citizen-owned renewable energy projects for Poland and the Carpathian area was organized by REScoop with cooperation with The Association of Municipalities Polish Network „Energie Cités” and The Krakow Institute for Sustainable Energy. More than 70 persons participated in this event.
Local authorities for the energy security in Europe
During the Energy Security Conference that took place on 9 October in Brussels the Commission reiterated its support to cities committed to the Covenant of Mayors movement. High level representatives from EU institutions, including Vice President of the European Commission Günther Oettinger, President of the Committee of the Regions Michel Lebrun and Chair of the European Parliament ITRE Committee Jerzy Buzek all joined to praise the Covenant of Mayors success, which has helped translate the 2020 EU climate and energy targets into local action across Europe. Answering positively a special invitation from Dominique Ristori, Director General for Energy in the conference participated also Zbigniew Michniowski, President of the Board of the Association of Municipalities Polish Network "Energie Cités" and the Deputy Mayor of Bielsko-Biala city as well as Leszek Drogosz, a director of the Infrastructure Department of the City of Warsaw and a deputy President of the Board of the Polish Network “Energie-Cités”.
2nd workshop of the EURONET 50/50 MAX project devoted to the issue of energy saving at schools
On the 7th of October 2014 our Association organised in Cracow 2nd national workshop of the EURONET 50/50 MAX project, which was devoted to the practical aspects of energy saving and implementation of the innovative 50/50 methodology in schools and non-school public buildings. The workshop was addressed to the representatives of Polish municipalities and schools (both teachers and caretakers) involved in the project, as well as other people interested in the 50/50 concept. In total over 150 persons took part in the event.
The aim of the EURONET 50/50 MAX project is to mobilize energy savings in public buildings through the implementation of 50/50 methodology in 500 schools and nearly 50 other public buildings from 13 EU countries. The 9-step methodology increases energy awareness of the building users and actively involves them in energy-saving actions. Achieved financial benefits are equally shared between the building users and the local authority which covers the energy bills. Our Association is responsible for implementation of the project in Poland.
1st Mayors in Action national training session in Białystok, Poland
Over 100 people participated on 4th Sept. in the Mayors in Action national training session devoted to the role of local governments in the supporting the low-emission economy and sustainable energy. The meeting was organized at the registered office of the Podlasie Voivodeship Marshal's Office in Bialystok by MO and the Association of Municipalities Polish Network “Energie Cités” (PNEC).
Emphasizing the crucial role of local governments in promoting low-carbon economy in the regions the representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and Polish Network "Energie Cités" explained the representatives of the local authorities how to develop and implement “Sustainable Energy Action Plans” (SEAPs).
