How to support energy-sensitive consumers? - A summary of the EnergyMeasures project
On January 17, 2024, the closing event of the EnergyMeasures: Supporting Households at Risk of Energy Poverty project was held in Brussels, summarizing more than 3 years of the consortium's work to improve the energy efficiency of households at risk of energy poverty by raising residents' energy awareness, changing their habits and applying low-cost energy saving measures. The event was an opportunity to summarize the project's activities and results, which were presented by coordinator Dr. Niall Dunphy of University College Cork. After this introduction, the assembled participants had the opportunity to watch a documentary film, which was produced during the project and allows one to approach the implementation of the tasks from the point of view of sensitive audiences in the involved regions, as well as the most important insights of the experts:

Engaging Citizens for Climate Neutrality - highlitghts from Ready4NetZero webinar #3
On January 9th, 2024, the third Ready4NetZero webinar hosted a discussion with climate action community engagement experts, which was attended by nearly 70 participants. During the webseminar moderated by Linda Mederake from Ecologic Institute gGmbH, the importance of the Ready4NetZero project was highlighted. The project aims to develop a Guide to Developing Local Climate Neutral Strategies, which includes case studies, key elements, measures, and strategies related to climate neutrality. The webseminar featured three guests from the German municipalities of Osnabrück, Ahrweiler, and Kempten, who shared their success stories of engaging citizens in the journey toward a low-emission future.
Navigating Challenges in Citizen Participation for Climate Neutrality - invitation to 3nd webinar in series
Ready4NetZero consortium are inviting all interested in citizen participation topic to the webinar #3 “Navigating Challenges in Citizen Participation for Climate Neutrality". On the way to climate neutrality, the role of citizen involvement and participatory planning is crucial for a variety of reasons such as ensuring transparency in decision-making, governance openness and ownership over the decisions given to the public. Engaging the community in climate action helps building trust, inclusivity and accountability in the pursuit of net zero solutions. Yet, many municipalities struggle with realizing citizen involvement and participatory planning, as well as with meeting expectations for integrating public feedback into strategies and measures.
Official launch of new project on overcoming underperforming renovations - OUR-CEE
On December 5, 2023, the first project meeting was held, with which our Association and other partners officially began work on the new project "OUR-CEE: Overcoming Underperforming Renovations in Central and Eastern Europe", which is funded by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI). The project will bring together partners from four different EU countries: Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and Croatia.
Results of EnergyMeasures and energy poverty workshop in Bielsko-Biala
On Monday, December 11, 2023, a workshop addressing energy poverty in support of the European Climate Pact was held at the Ecological Education Centre "Ekosynteza" in Bielsko-Biała. The event was a platform to unite various stakeholders, including city officials from the Departments of Environment and Energy, Social Policy, and Housing, representatives from the Social Welfare Centre in Bielsko-Biała, City Wardens, and community members actively engaged in addressing the needs of city residents on a daily basis.
Schools for climate neutrality - vision workshop in Minsk Mazowiecki
Students and teachers from the Mikolaj Kopernik Primary School No. 1 and the Jozef Wybicki Primary School No. 5 in Minsk Mazowiecki joined efforts with parents and representatives of local institutions, with the help of experts to create an action plan to bring each school closer to achieving climate neutrality. The vision workshops on 23 and 24 November, with over 60 participants, not only helped to broaden knowledge of climate neutrality but also provided an excellent opportunity to integrate the school community.
Workshop on adaptation of cities and municipalities to climate change
On November 29, 2023, in Cracow, the Association of Municipalities Polish Network "Energie Cités" in cooperation with the Marshal's Office of the Malopolska Region organized again a workshop on adapting cities and municipalities to climate change. This time the event was attended by Małopolska climate and environmental advisors.
How to fund climate transition? Highlitghts from webinar #2
The second Ready4NetZero webinar, part of a capacity building series, organized on 21nd of November 2023, hosted over 46 participants: city officials and municipal staff from Croatia, Hungary, Poland and Romania. The event had a highlight on the city of Zagreb and its financial strategy, in the light of their climate transition process. Another important topic on the agenda was the City of Zagreb's Energy Information Centre, a valuable resource for citizens seeking information on renewable energy sources.
EL-Practice project at VIII Adult Education Forum
On 14-15 November in Warsaw, the eighth Adult Education Forum organised by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System and the EPALE National Office took place. The event brings together experts, practitioners and all those involved in adult education. The Forum aims to analyse best practices and reflect together on how adult education can be more accessible and effective, regardless of age, skills and individual predispositions, abilities or needs of the audience.
