Four schools - SP1 and SP5 from Minsk Mazowiecki and SP8 and SP10 from Zamosc participating in the VISIONS2045 project ("Schools as Drivers to Climate Neutrality in Cities”, funded by EUKI) have already learned about their carbon footprint and are preparing to develop an action plan which implementation will help them to move towards climate neutrality.
On June 6 in Minsk Mazowiecki and June 13 in Zamosc, teachers, representatives of Parent Councils, city offices and municipal companies responsible for urban planning, greenery, mobility, water consumption, procurement, heat and electricity or waste management jointly considered possible areas of cooperation and actions for climate and emission reduction that each school would like to implement during the project period and beyond.
Teacher trainings and a study visit to Berlin schools are coming soon to inspire the school community to work together!
The VISIONS2045 project, implemented by partners from Germany, Poland, Slovenia and Bulgaria, supports school communities in developing their own vision of a climate-neutral school and carrying concrete actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, for a school's quest for climate neutrality, including sustainable use of resources, to be successful, it requires dialogue, collaboration and bringing together different perspectives and expertise. It is through the involvement of external stakeholders that a motivated school community gets the support it needs to make its ideas a reality in the long term. In this way, representatives from the public transportation sector, waste management, City Hall or other institutions or organizations can become allies of the school in achieving this ambitious goal and can help it in developing win-win solutions.
