ClimatePact1The National Meeting of Climate Pact Ambassadors - the most important event for the Climate Pact community in Poland took place on 12 June 2024, in Jadwisin near Warsaw. It brought together Ambassadors involved actively in environmental protection and sustainable development from all over Poland. It was an excellent opportunity for interesting and inspiring discussions on climate cooperation.

The first part of the event provided a closer look at the aims and objectives of the Pact. Representatives of the Association of Municipalities Polish Network "Energie Cités" - the National Coordinator of the Climate Pact - presented their role and the key tasks they face. They discussed the most important objectives and initiatives being implemented at the local level, stressing the need for cooperation and mutual support between the Ambassadors and to create space to further building an an engaged community.

Izabela Zygmunt from the European Commission Representation in Poland introduced the participants to the role of the Ambassadors in building a positive image of Poland in the European Union. She showed what are the important processes of the European Commission from the perspective of legal actions concerning climate protection and counteracting climate change. She also presented examples of effective promotional activities and reliable sources of information that can be used to disseminate climate knowledge

ClimatePact2The culminating point of the meeting was the official gala of thanks, during which the Representative of the European Commission in Poland honoured the Ambassadors for their contribution and involvement in promoting the climate goals of the European Union. The gala was not only an opportunity to recognise past achievements, but also a motivation for further climate actions. The Ambassadors presented their local initiatives, which included environmental education, campaigns to reduce CO2 emissions and projects to raise climate awareness in local communities

The second part of the event took the form of a workshop to discuss community needs, experiences in education, and best communication practices. The workshop highlighted the need to proactively engage communities on social media, motivate Ambassadors to engage in the initiative for the long term, and support their activities by providing a package of dissemination materials allowing for better promotion. Positive aspects such as the involvement of Ambassadors, cooperation with the media, and face-to-face meetings are key to the successful promotion of the Pact's activities. Areas for improvement were also identified, including poor visibility of the Pact, the need to communicate about the activities and actions of the Ambassadors, and financial support. It is important to provide professional and useful competencies and to build strong relationships with the media.

ClimatePact3The event is an important step towards strengthening contacts and awareness of the various climate actions between Ambassadors. Nurturing the development of this committed community will continue. Despite the challenges we face, together we are able to find solutions and respond to emerging needs. The National Climate Pact Ambassadors' Meeting was an excellent opportunity to plan our further cooperation together and make sure that the European Climate Pact's activities will be as effective as possibleThank you for your presence!
