Exchange of experienceThe partners of the S3UNICA project: Intelligent energy-saving solutions on university campuses met on June 8, 2022 in the online formula to participate in the exchange of experience and learn how the educational community in Bielsko-Biała supports the achievement of local climate and energy goals. First, during the project partners' meeting, they discussed the most important issues related to the current activities of the project.

Participants of the experience exchange were welcomed by Anna Jaskuła, Executive Director of PNEC, who invited Patrycja Płonka, also representing the Association, to take the floor. In her presentation, she presented the role of local governments and stakeholders in achieving the EU's climate neutrality goals. Next, Piotr Sołtysek from the Bielsko-Biała Municipal Office presented the city's action plan for sustainable energy and climate, under which the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is to be increased from 20 to 40%. After this, the participants had the opportunity to watch the film created as part of the project and thus go on a virtual study visit to Bielsko-Biała to learn how the educational community supports the achievement of local climate and energy goals. After the screening, Izabela Stec from the Bielsko-Biała Education Center presented an eco-house, a passive house with renewable energy installations, which allows the students to learn how to operate, as well as install various installations, such as a photovoltaic installation or a small wind turbine. Then, Dr. Joanna Kubicka presented the sustainable development of three regions from the south of Poland based on the knowledge obtained from an international project implemented by the University of Economics and Humanities in Bielsko-Biała as part of the Regional Center for Education network. Radosław Sadlok talked about the professional training of a technician of renewable energy devices and systems at the Bielsko-Biała’s Industrial School. Łukasz Siekliński from the Technical and Humanities Academy gave a presentation on the implementation of the European Union's climate and energy goals at the university. As study visits were planned for the next day, at the end of the exchange of experiences, the introduction to study visit was presented.

The online event gathered listeners from various countries, who had the opportunity to learn more about the activities of the Bielsko-Biała City Hall and educational institutions of this city. A wide range of activities was presented, so we believe that everyone gained something which will inspire them to take their own actions. We would like to thank all representatives of local authorities, experts and speakers for participating in the event, and all those who did not manage to participate are invited to read the materials provided below.
