VII forum_Energia_w_gminieOn 15th of November the fifth meeting of Polish CoM Dialogue Platform (created in the framework of NET-Com project) was held, joined with the 7th Forum “Energy in a municipality” focused on the issues related to cogeneration and trigeneration.

The Forum brought together over 50 participants, mostly local government officials, but also representatives of RES companies and other local actors interested in renewable energy. During the meeting of the Platform, supporting cooperation between current and potential Covenant of Mayors signatories, the current and planned measures stimulating the CoM implementation in Poland were discussed. Also in this respect "Action Plan for the implementation of the Covenant of Mayors in Poland in the years 2012-2020" was adapted.

The host of the forum, organized by the GLOBEnergia in cooperation with the Association of Municipalities Polish Network "Energie Cités”, was the Upper Silesian Industrial Park (GPP) in Katowice. On the 30th of August 2012 GPP opened "Goeppert Mayer" - the first office energy-efficient building in Poland with the trigeneration system, which simultaneously produces electricity, heat and cooling.

The rules for system operation were presented by Łukasz Sajewicz of Viessmann. The basis for the trigeneration system are two main devices: CHP module and an absorption chiller.  This office building - as the first one in Poland - was certified by BREEAM (BRE Enviromental Assessment Method). BREEAM is the most popular in Europe, building quality assessment method verifying whether it is environmentally friendly and guarantees high comfort of the tenants. The method has been established by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) in the UK in 1990. The details of the certification process were presented by Miroslaw Czarnik, President of the Upper Silesian Industrial Park in Katowice.

With a presentation by Marcin Pawlik of DLJM system, representatives of municipalities could learn how to manage the buildings effectively, while Jaroslaw Trela of PhonoSolar presented solutions for a prosumer - how to use the power grid as his own store of energy. Bronislaw Wyżgolik, a representative of the Silesian Chamber of Agriculture talked about the agricultural biogas production in the context of the current legal and market situation.

After the conference, participants guided by Miroslaw Czarnik, President of GPP, visited the trigeneration system in the Goeppert Mayer building in the Upper Silesian Industrial Park.
